Alethea McCollin is a playwright, director, producer, actor, and founder of Orange Stilettos Productions, llc. She has written numerous stage plays and other works of fiction, including the children's book The Cloud Catcher. She has produced her work either as readings or full productions in various cities nationally. Her most recent full production is of The Stilettos Monologues, which she produced main stage at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, where the show won the award for "Best Production." She also produced a short run of The Stilettos Monologues in Chesterfield, Virginia.
In 2021, she produced her play, Renaming Shaim (formerly Shh...AIM!!) for a three-night run at Theatre Row, New York City for Broadway Bound Theatre Festival, and prior to that Shh...AIM!! was put up for a week-long run at Virginia State University by the Virginia State Players under the direction of Dr. Jacqueline Burleson (deceased) .
Alethea serves on the Board of Directors of James River Writers where she is Executive Secretary. She is also a member of The Dramatists Guild, and Virginia Screenwriters Forum. She is a former lecturer at Virginia State University, where she taught English and African American Literature.
