About Alethea McCollin

The Art Is!

Alethea McCollin is a playwright, director, producer, actor, and founder of Orange Stilettos Productions, llc. She has written numerous stage plays and other works of fiction, including the children's book The Cloud Catcher. She has produced her work either as readings or full productions in various cities nationally. Most recently she produced The Stilettos Monologues main stage at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival, (where the show won the award for "Best Production"), and in Chesterfield, Virginia. Additionally, Alethea gave mini-performances of the show at universities in North Carolina and Virginia, as well as a Virginia High School. 

In 2021, she produced her play, Renaming Shaim (formerly Shh...AIM!!) for a three-night run at Theatre Row, New York City for Broadway Bound Theatre Festival. Prior to that the play had a week-long run at Virginia State University.  

Alethea serves on the Board of Directors of James River Writers where she is Executive Secretary. She is also a member of The Dramatists Guild, and Virginia Screenwriters Forum. She is a former lecturer at Virginia State University, where she taught English and African American Literature.
